PROJECT A: ART & CHILL

I would love to say the delay on this post was intentional but lol it was your typical case of procrastination. Project A has come and gone #sosad #babycomeback. I was telling Steph the other day that this project was literally figuratively our baby and it was so sad to watch it (our baby) grow and progress so fast. She insinuated that I was being a bit dramatic but  I maintain my point still.

In case anyone doesn't know what I'm on about, Project A was an event Steph & I put together where we got tons of art supplies, fabric, mannequins, clothes, and photography supplies and just had a really artsy get together with food and music.

Planning it was an emotional roller coaster. Steph and I went through highs and lows stressing crying and excessively worrying about whether or not this little project of ours was going to work.  I mean we literally started this blog in October and 9 months later we were throwing our very first event! We were just two little girls from Nigeria with creative dreams. Was anyone going to care?

We came to find out that you guys did care! (screams) & We want to give a massive thank you to all our readers and all the other platforms who have been supporting us from day one! You guys keep us going and we really appreciate you.

For the Project A attendees, you guys are so so amazing. It was the perfect day, everyone was so friendly and it was such an emotional experience to see our readers in person.

PROJECT A PIECES.

Hello ladies and gentlemen and non-binary fairies, so as you know we hosted an event on Friday (which was amazing thank you to everyone who came through) and a diverse collection of art pieces were made so I've taken pictures of a few and decided to share. I think my camera is faulty and my laptop won't let me edit pics so enjoy these mediocre pics for now xx

MY A-LEVEL SKETCHBOOK: Part One.

Hey Guys, Eme here! Just thought for today's post I would share some pages from my Art & Design A-level sketchbooks! I have about 5 sketchbooks over the span of two years of a-levels, so I thought I would turn it into a little series

Note: I show mostly the introductory pages before I had picked my Unit 1 topic. The theme I ended up choosing was African Art which you see a bit of at the very end. I didn't love where I went with it hence why I chose to exclude the rest of the sketchbook from the video. I've just included pages which I thought would be nice to talk about. (If you'd prefer the next video to be more detailed on the developing theme then let me know in the comments!)

Also in case anyone was wondering,  I got an A* at a-level art. I admit my skill wasn't that great at the time but I think getting that grade was largely to do with loads of experimentation, not being afraid to try new things and fail and succeed either way! If you're an A-level student needing some tips I'd be happy to help!

DECIEVE THE EYE

First of I'd like to give a big shoutout to my girl J for being a sport & letting me paint her. Pretty sure she was questioning her friendship with me half way through lol. (J If you're reading this love me please).

Anywho, here’s a little treat for you guys! I’ve made a little video of a fun experiment I did recently. This project was largely inspired by the artist Alexa Meade. She is an artist who specializes in painting real life 3D objects/ people and creating an illusion which turns them into two dimensional expressive paintings. She actually has a youtube channel which I definitely recommend you have a look at. She describes her paintings as a reverse Trompe-L’Oeil.

"Unlike a traditional Trompe-L'oeil painting which tricks the eye into thinking a 2D canvas might be a real 3D space, I do the opposite: I take the 3D world and create the illusion that it is a 2D painting."

In this little experiment I do my take on Alexa Meade’s unique style!
